There are a lot of things to call these things, but I often refer to them to myself as "bread circles". Bread chips makes sense as it's a chip sized/shaped thin slice of bread. So does baguette slices, because it is just sliced baguette, baked. And crostini is Italian for "little crusts" which also is exactly what these are. No matter what you call them, they are pretty easy to make and very easy to eat.
Bread Chips, Crostini, Baked Baguette Slices
Ingredients
- 1 French baguette
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 1 pinch salt to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 F.
- Using a bread knife, slice the baguette in thin slices, no thicker than a pinkie finger. You can cut it on the diagonal if you'd like a larger surface area for your crostini.
- Place the slices close together but not overlapping on a baking sheet covered with a baking mat or parchment paper.
- Brush the bread slices with the olive oil You could also use a garlic infused olive oil for extra flavor. Sprinkle with a tiny bit of salt.
- Bake for 14 minutes. Once they are done, leave them on the baking pan to cool.
- When completely cool, store in a large airtight container for up to a week.
