What's New Here

June 16, 2021 by April

I took some time off from a rigorous three times a week posting schedule to evaluate how I want to go forward here. Blogging is a tough game, especially with a full-time job too! Food bloggers have to be everything from a writer, content strategist, photographer, videographer, marketer, social media specialist, web developer, chef, food stylist, and more. So I am going for quality over quantity going forward. That means less posts, but the ones you do get are better and prettier!

Let me explain.

Better Photos

Yes, I am rediscovering the Joy of Photography. Each new recipe will come with a much better set of photos than before. I have a Panasonic Lumix GX85 mirrorless digital camera that I am working with. It's so much lighter than a big, boxy DSLR! I'm trying to be cool and learn the pieces I have before buying more, but I really want some new lenses for it too to expand my options!

My goal with better photography is to give you a better visual experience here and on my social feeds, and if I get some product photography gigs from it, all the better! Taking photos of the recipes I develop remains my main focus (pun totally intended) overall though.

More Deeply Researched Recipes

Because I want to give people more to scroll through as they try to wade through to the recipe, duh. But also more information because it's important, not because it's superfluous. This means less recipes per week, because research takes time. And posting will be more sporadic at first because in addition to this blog, I still maintain a full-time job. Your continued readership and sharing of my recipes could change that! But for those of you who are interested in more than a list of ingredients and instructions, you'll get that going forward, as applicable. The rest of you can continue to scroll to the recipe as usual!

Weekly Grocery Reviews

One grocery item every Friday. I'll tell you what it is, where to get it, and if you should spend your money on it. I love this kind of writing, and I also lovely helping people save money, so if something isn't worth it, I'll let you know. The good, the bad, and the iffy will all come to light. Check out my most recent — a review of Caulipower pasta.

Most of these reviews are products I have chosen and purchased with my own money, but I also accept items and ingredients to review as well. Companies can see my work with me page to see how to get in touch with me for these opportunities. For my readers, I will disclose any products that lean more towards advertorial, as always.
