Uses for Jelly and Jam

March 22, 2021 by April

Are you a frequent jelly or jam eater? I go through phases where I eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches a lot, then I stop and not a lot of jelly is eaten. That's not the only way to eat jelly but it seems to be one of the few ways I do. I decided to make a list of uses for jelly and jam for days when I clean out the pantry and think, "Wow, we have too much jelly and jam!"

Which, I did so recently. With the announcement we have to go back into the office again, I'm trying to get the house super organized. I want to do all of those little cleaning chores you never do unless you're bored or it gets out of hand. Cleaning the pantry is just such a task.

Assortment of jelly and jam

I end up with too much jelly and jam partly because of my own overzealousness with canning. When I have too much extra fruit, if I can't freeze it, I can it. Oftentimes, that comes in the form of jelly and jam. Don't get me wrong, I make amazing stuff — like my vanilla lime fig jam and strawberry black pepper jelly — but for just me and Patrick eating it, too much can come pretty quickly.

A local church nearby has a "blessings box" which is like a Little Free Library but for food. People can bring what they can, and people who need it can pick it up anytime no questions asked. I usually put stuff in it when there's a good sale at the store, like $10 for 10 canned goods. Other good items to include are wrapped utensils from carryout, extra condiments, napkins, plastic bags, and dog treats or food. I even included a gigantic container of Tums. Last year at Costco, Patrick got the two pack and we aren't going to go through THAT many Tums before the expire.

Anyways, if you're looking for some ways to use jelly and jam, enjoy these!
