Unfortunately (but smartly!!) the Peach Festival was canceled again for 2021. So we’ll have to peach flip out at home, and for the rest of peach season!
A Note on the Sugar Content
Back in the day, Southerners made everything sweet — too sweet — if you ask me. Seriously, I had a relative who used to add sugar to PIMENTO CHEESE. It’s very much a generational thing, as younger Southerners overall seem to have much less of a sweet tooth. I experimented with several different ways to lower the sugar content, both for health reasons and for not being so sugary it makes your teeth hurt. Try whichever way makes your pancreas, teeth, and tongue happiest!
I went with a no-sugar Sprite, but used the regular lemonade concentrate as my grocery store didn’t have any no-sugar frozen lemonade concentrate today.

Let’s Talk About Freezing Peaches
I love getting a ton of fruit and freezing it for next year, or for frozen drinks. In fact, the peaches in this peach flip are last year’s peaches, which means I need to finish them before I freeze another batch from the year!
Generally I will get a half bushel basket and make an afternoon of it. I peel the peaches, and save the peels for peach vodka. I follow these instructions for freezing peaches. Make sure to use freezer-specific zip top bags, and mark the year and what it is on the bag in permanent marker.
