October Roundup

October has felt like an extremely long month, though that isn't necessarily reflected in this much shorter than usual October roundup. A lot has been going on, both in the world and in my own life. I can see many others starting to pick up the pace of their lives too, but not necessarily in a way that means we're ignoring the big obvious viral problem swirling around us.

We're also all sick of election nonsense, no matter what side we're on. We've voted, stop telling us how to register, Facebook! Dear mailman, just deposit the mail directly into the recycling bin, thanks!

Other than that stuff everyone is going through, my big news is right here! I had the whole site redesigned to a theme that is faster, more modern, and just plain nicer! It's the Foodie Pro theme from Feast Design Co., and was installed by iMark Interactive. I am happy with everything related to it, but I know I still have tweaks and work to do to make it the best it can be from my end.

Between working full-time, taking on a briefly larger freelance load (YAY), and maintaining this site, I took off from doing posts in most of October once the redesign process began. Figuring out how categories work in modern blog design is a huge pain, omg.

But I plan to be back on track in the first or second week of November with tons of new posts for recipes that'll keep you full and happy for the rest of fall and into the winter. My constant stack of dishes in the sink says that this cooking at home trend is here to stay for the foreseeable future as the seasons change and the coronavirus continues to ravage the country and world. So, might as well make the cooking and eating experience as enjoyable as possible, right?! Unfortunately, as many people know, even food can be political. There's no escaping it, even here.

Here's the October recipes:

A Small Haunted Cheese Board

Deli Style Mock Chicken Salad

Male Cookies

Other than those things, I've pretty much been going on walks with Meatloaf while the weather is still nice, and going to yoga every Friday afternoon. The sunsets have been gorgeous in the evenings as the sun is going away earlier each day.

This fruited smoothie sour from Forager Brewing was so good I bought a few to drink at home. It has a silhouette of someone doing yoga on it, so it's the perfect post-yoga beer!

We visited the State Farmers Market so Meatloaf could pose for her annual pumpkin patch pic.

And that about wraps up October!
