February Roundup

Good thing it's Leap Day, otherwise I would have forgotten to do a February roundup!

This month was a blur, because I spent most of it sick with a sinus infection that went undiagnosed and unmedicated for a week too long. Do NOT recommend!

I mentioned it in yesterday's Friday Goods post, but I've been taking oil of oregano for five days now and I really think it has helped me a lot. Post-antibiotics I wanted to make sure to rebalance my internal biome (the least gross phrase for it, I think) in the right way, and did a lot of reading that led me to think that I might have candida, which is basically a whole body yeast problem. I researched this a lot, and with a lot of good sources. However, I am going to link you to a woo-woo source that may seem sketchy BUT it is the most comprehensive and it does echo a lot of the actual scientific research I found on the benefits of ingesting oil of oregano.

All that to say, I feel better than I have in a while. My mind feels clearer, I am less foggy-headed, and am less congested and my face doesn't feel swollen from sinus issues. This of course, is not a silver bullet to fix everything, but it seems like it's re-set me in a way onto a better path than I was on before. All sources point towards taking oil of oregano for 10 days, which I am doing. If nothing else, there aren't any bad side effects from taking it for me (do your own research for your own body though), and it doesn't taste as bad as you'd think when mixed with water and taken like a shot.

Other February Stuff

I went indoor skydiving earlier this month, which was pretty cool but nothing like regular skydiving. It was an interesting experience but if you want the most adrenaline bang for your buck, you're going to want to skydive out of an airplane.

Mid-month, I discussed how our IKEA kitchen is holding up after four years of rough, daily use.

Finally, I bit the bullet and bought an expensive-for-me SEO course, Stupid Simple SEO. I started it but haven't gotten into the meat of it yet because I didn't want to do that while my brain was addled with sickness, even though I was stuck at home bored and unable to do much else for five solid days. Progress is being made and hopefully you'll see some great new changes here. Other changes I hope you don't see, because it's backend stuff!

February Freelance

I have cut down on the amount I am freelancing by what feels like a lot and it's quite freeing. I'm keeping the most fun and/or lucrative gigs I have, but here are a few things I wrote about for other outlets in February.

Get jealous over how Liz White came to own the cutest yarn shop in Columbia.

See what's new at 116 State Street, a Southern-Asian sort of fusion restaurant, Palate, in West Columbia.

Happy Leap Day, use your extra day of 2020 well!
