Edward & Sons Natural (Vegan!) Bouillon Cubes

March 28, 2012 by April

I received a package full of Not-Beef and Not-Chick'n Bouillon Cubes from Edward & Sons!

You should absolutely remember these magic cubes from my French onion soup recipe, because these bad boys MAKE the soup base. They just do. The nice folks at Edward & Sons sent me way more than any one person needs at one time so I'm going to do a first on this blog and I'm going to make it rain chicken and beef flavored madness. Bouillon cubes for YOU! Bouillon cubes for YOU! EVERYONE IN THE STUDIO AUDIENCE IS GOING HOME WITH BOUILLON CUUUUUUBES!

Okay not quite. I am going to give away two sets of Edward & Sons Bouillon Cubes. Each set contains two boxes of Not-Beef and two boxes of Not-Chick'n. Each box contains eight cubes, so you'll have plenty too!

  • PRIZE: Two boxes of Not-Beef Bouillon and two boxes of Not-Chick'n Bouillon from Edward & Sons
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post and tell me what think you'd made with this!
  • BONUS QUESTION: Who are you? I rarely get comments and want to know who's reading! I really do!
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: April 3rd at midnight.
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two!
  • PRIZE SHIPS: In the USA only because I don't know how to ship internationally. Sorry, overseas people.
  • DISCLAIMERS: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Monday morning. These prizes are brought to you by Edward & Sons who sent me these at my request. Shipping costs come out of my pocket, because I like ya.

Why am I doing a giveaway? Well because I can, and because I want to share the good products of this company whose products I buy on a regular basis with my own hard earned cash. I wouldn't give away anything that I wouldn't buy on my own accord!

Stay tuned because I have a few boxes for myself to experiment with and see what kind of deliciousness I can come up with. Just know that a recipe for vegetarian pho that actually tastes beef-like is in the very near future! I also want to know what YOU would come up with, so please enter, enter, enter!

I will use the Not-Chick'n in my oven-baked risotto and the Not-Beef in some brown rice fried rice. Mallory

I'd use this to flavor brown rice, barley and quinoa during cooking. I'd also probably make a mean pot of minestrone!

Who am I? I am 31 years old, live in Central IL, eat vegetarian, own a corgi and a cat, married for 12 years, and I'm a librarian.

I will use the not chicken in a rice dish and the not meat in an asian soup recipe.

I know EXACTLY what I'd do!
    This vegetarian from Tennessee makes
a very filling rice dish with a rice blend
I get from Costco (2 browns, red, & wild rice).
I sauté onion, garlic, button & portobello
mushrooms...then I add some dried shiitake
mushrooms! Then to the water I add the
Not-Beef bouillon cubes. (So sad my local store
stopped carrying the beef). With the chicken,
I use it in soups or for low-fat sauteeing.

I love these! The Not-Beef cubes are the only vegetarian bouillon cubes that actually taste like real broth with real flavor! I love them. I use them with Ramen noodles instead of the horrible high-sodium, non-veggie friendly seasoning packets that come in them. I also use the Not-Chicken to make veggie chicken noodle soup or to flavor any home-made soup. They both make killer Chinese foods and an excellent rub for tofu! Crush the cubes, add some minced garlic and parsley, and sprinkle on a quartered tofu block. Spray with olive oil spray and bake for 10 minutes on each side. Top with soy sauce and serve over rice or noodles. Awesome!

Bonus question: Who am I? My name is Shannon, and I have been a vegetarian for 22 years. I am a mom of a 19-month-old girl and a 17-year-old boy. I like to draw and paint, although I never have time to! My daughter has multiple food allergies, so I am in the process of creating new dinner plans to make sure she can eat what I am making. I feel like most of my day is spent planning meals, scouring labels for allergens, and buying groceries! All part of being a mom, I guess!

It's not what I have made, but the infinite possibilities of what I can make IF I receive these apparently awesome items!

I am a vegan, anarchist, feminist who lives in Portland... I will hype these if I get 'em!

I use the cubes (either flavor) for cooking rice, lentils and in anything that needs extra flavor. I use them to make broth for sauteeing onions, garlic or any veggies. 🙂

I have been vegan for four and a half years, love it and couldn't imagine my life any other way. I love Edwards & Sons products and discover more and more of them and I appreciate the high quality products. Not sure what else to tell you about me 🙂

I'd use these to stirfry veggies in, or to add flavor to dishes--I don't use oils, and this would be much tastier than using water to saute veggies! Thank you for this giveaway!
