August Roundup

Every one of these month end round ups I want to start with "I can't believe this month is over already!" but its always true. 2019 has absolutely whizzed by and I deeply feel the pain of such a rapid time passage. I feel it deep within me, the pain of missing out on life passing me by while I am wasting away a majority of my time on things that make my unhappy, things that sap my energy and life force. But don't worry about me. I am really keying in on making a huge life change soon. I'm working on it nearly daily and I can't wait to share more about it.

If I have learned one thing as I have gotten older, its how and when to keep my cards close. And this is one card I am keeping close until I am ready to show my hand and sweep up the winnings. Hope that's mysterious enough for you.

Beyond my mystery things I've been doing, let's talk about things that are in the open.

I've been doing a lot of reading this month, including a really good cookbook from Giada. The Kitchn discussed three other of her cookbooks that I now also want to cook from, with as much as I liked Feel Good Food for Cookbook Club.

Oh! It was a big month for our wood paneled room too. We ripped up the carpet (THANK GOD) and put down click together flooring. It's helped my allergies a ton but the ragweed that's diseasing the air right now sure isn't helping either.

We also had two more doors installed in the house. One is the back door in the wood room, because there was a gap through it I described as so wide "a roach riding another roach could crawl through." The other door is the back door to our recently renovated garage, because it needed to be better sealed up if Patrick was going to be running the AC in there... which he did, a lot. But it's fine because it's so insulated and the unit is very efficient. Plus it's his office space and he deserves to be comfortable.

Adventure-wise, I went to the US National Whitewater Center today, the last day of August with my dad. It was a really cool place, a cross between an amusement park and a summer camp at a YMCA that has water activities and ropes courses, and a surprisingly fantastic craft beer list. There were a lot of questions I had before we went so I am going to write a post with what all I learned there, but here's a takeaway — whitewater rafting can make your toenails hurt. Ponder on that for a while and happy September!
