Anti Inflammatory Foods That Taste Good

cherries and berries

There are a million reasons that each person's body gets inflamed and one of my biggest triggers is allergies. I'm allergic to everything that comes into bloom in the spring, all of those pretty flowers and unfurling leaves on the trees, and despite regular medication, my sinuses stay inflamed and swollen for most of the best season.

I do take anti-inflammatory medications, and weekly allergy shots, but I also turn to anti-inflammatory foods and supplements to help my body heal faster.

5 Anti-Inflammatory Foods (That Also Taste Good)

CBD oil

Yes, CBD is the hot new thing and the research on it has shown that CBD's anti-inflammatory properties are very real. The speed at which CBD is gaining popularity and passage of bills to make it more available are no mistake. I have been using CBD oil for a while now and have noticed a dramatic decrease in the amount of tension headaches I get. I used to have a shoulder to top of head ache at least once a week, the kind that ibuprofen wouldn't even knock out, and now I've only had a few since beginning a nightly CBD oil regimen. It also helps me sleep harder, but not in a drowsy medicated way, just in a way that once I am asleep, I stay asleep.

Recently, I switched from 1 mg drops of plus CBD oil to 3 mg drops and I can tell a difference in how my body doesn't react as badly to pain from use, like when I painted the entire garage over a two day span and my body ached, then it stopped after taking a few milligrams of CBD oil over the course of a few hours. I haven't tried the mint flavor but I do like the unflavored. It tastes like sweet, wet hay, so not amazing but not horrible.

Turmeric

Mostly known for its properties of making everything it touches yellow, turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory. Whether in powdered or fresh root form, it's a great addition to smoothies, made into tea, or added to Indian dishes. Golden milk and golden milk lattes made with turmeric powder are hot sells these days in coffee shops. Get anti-inflammatories and a caffeine boost at the same time, it's 2019 ya'll.

Green tea

You know something is mainstream if it's available at the gas station, so clearly everyone is aware of green tea's excellent health benefits. Studies have shown that tea leaves possess an anti inflammatory effect, and green tea more so than black tea due to the higher flavanoid contents in green tea.

Dark chocolate

So okay, maybe the cocoa in dark chocolate won't cure you, but cocoa has anti inflammatory properties and if you're going to eat chocolate, make it 70% dark and you'll be benefitting more than if you chose say, white chocolate (aka fake chocolate). Every little bit helps!

Cherries and other berries

Berries and cherries are great for a myriad of health problems like heart disease, cancer, cognitive regression. Anthocyanins, which are pigments that make the berries and cherries the color they are, are powerful antioxidants. The darker the berry, the more anthocyanins is in it, and the better it is for you. Plus berries are just plain delicious, so eat them straight up. Or blend them in smoothies, top salads with them, put them in desserts, or again, just eat them naturally!
