I just realized that after writing the post about the reality of owning pets that I hadn’t updated with how Radar is doing! But in a phrase, back to normal.
In mid-July we took her to have a suspicious lump cut off of her right front arm, and as of that time we didn’t know what it was. But we did a week later, and though it turns out it was cancerous – soft tissue sarcoma – to be precise, the prognosis seems good. We had decided to remove the lump and just watch closely to see if any others appeared, rather than going through the drastic measures of removing her whole leg, or the financially impossible chemotherapy.
She’s doing wonderfully and is back to her normal ways. The fur has practically regrown over the affected area, and knock on wood, but no new growths have appeared. I’ve been running my hands over her whole body a lot more frequently these days just to be proactive.
We are optimistic that she’ll be just fine if not better than before, and that we made the best choices that we could. Now it’s back to opening the door for her to go in, and out, and in, and out and taking her out (with me) for some delicious craft beer at our favorite places.
