Seriously how is March happening already? With this up and down, up and down weather we’re having here in South Carolina it’s hard to know what to plan for, but everyone’s hoping for the best and planning tons of great events both indoors and out in anticipation!

All month long– Sign up for your Pinckney’s Produce share for the spring/early summer now! They need your early commitment to be able to know how big of crops to grow.

Mar 1 – Eat all the chili you can handle at the Historic Columbia Foundation Palladium Society’s Chili Cook Off and support all of the cool old stuff around town. $30 at the door, 5 p.m.

Mar 1 Homebrewing 101 and Grand Opening at Old Mill Brewpub with Girls Pint Out. We’re communally brewing two amazing beers AND enjoying the tastes of the OMB’s new brews on their in-house system! Brewing starts at 11 a.m., we’ll be hanging through 5 p.m.

Mar 1 – Party for the animals, like an animal at the Party Animals Mardi Gras Festival to benefit the Animal Mission of the Midlands. A parade, food, music, and more will be happening at City Roots. And yes, it’s pet friendly!  $10, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Mar 3Good Life Cafe is set to open on Main Street, finally.

Mar 3 Bodegas Mayor 1619 Wine Dinner at 116 State. You asked, you receive, when the Ryans of 116 State are listening! An upscale wine dinner for a reasonable price for all of that food and incredible wine, this is what Columbians have been wanting to prove that we’ve grown up as a food scene. $100/person, 6 p.m.

Mar 4 – Mardi Gras is officially today, so eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow you may choose to engage in religious repentance.

Mar 6Sweet & Savory Chef’s Competition to benefit Palmetto Place Children’s Shelter. I’ll be a “celebrity” judge at this event, along with Jonathan Sharpe and Tyler Ryan. Check out the link for the amazing food available for sample! Held at EdVenture, tickets are $35/person or $60/couple, 6 p.m.

Mar 8 – Learn all about Plant Based Nutrition with an comprehensive class with Rachel Hartley, RD, LD, CDE, (who also blogs!) at Sozo Fitness on St. Andrews Rd. $15, 1-2 p.m.

Mar 13 – Join Girls Pint Out for a tasting and tour at Columbia’s newest production brewery! The hype around town is that their beers are great straight out of the gate, who could ask for more? 7 p.m.

Mar 14 – When you become a homeowner, things like sipping wine whilst looking at amazing tilework in display showers can sound like a freakin’ awesome way to spend a Friday night, which is perfect because the Wine Walk at the Carolina Home & Garden show runs from 5:30-8:30 p.m. $25 includes food and wine samples. Just be sure to invite me over to spend time in your wine-fueled hot tub purchase, aight?

Mar 15 – St. Pat’s in Five Points

Mar 22 – Soda City Spring Fest will be rocking on Main Street at the market’s usual time and place and will include interactive demonstrations, gardening tips, a beer tasting, live local music, and more! 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Mar 27 – Head out towards Lexington for Oysters Down on the Farm with the Lexington Greater Chamber of Commerce at Harmon’s Tree Farm. $50, 6-10 p.m.
