June 1 – Free BLTs at the State Farmer’s Market! Starting at 11 a.m., sandwiches will be available on a first come first come basis in the North Farmers Shed in West Columbia. Local ingredients will be used and the event will be sponsored by the SC Pork Board (hence the bacon…).
June 1 – Conquest Brewing Co. opens its tasting room for the first time at 2 p.m. til 8 p.m. with samples, growler fillings, and food from the British Bulldog. They are located at 947 South Stadium Road in Bay 1 in Columbia.
June 1 – Town of Lexington farmer’s market opens for the season today at 9 a.m. through 1 p.m. at 206 N. Church Street in downtown Lexington.
June 4 – Fresh On The Menu App unveiling at 12:30 p.m. at the Blue Marlin. The SC Dept. of Agriculture will present its app for finding restaurants to serve Certified SC foods and produce. Qualifying restaurants, chefs, and food operations can apply here.
June 7-8 – craft. bar. happy weekend takes over the Columbia Museum of Art for a weekend of drunk knitting and paint flinging. Just kidding, it’s a festival with live music, crafty workshops led by Columbia’s artiest, and a craft fair. $10 for non members, $6 for members of the CMoA.
June 10 – do “3 beers, 3 miles” in Lexington, which is a literal pub run that starts at the Old Mill Brewpub at 6 p.m., and includes three more bar stops along the way. Get ripped one way or the other.
UPDATE AS OF 6/10 , this event has been RESCHEDULED TO June 18 – Chipotle in the Vista opens at 10:30 a.m. at the corner of Gervais and Wayne Streets, also known as the former site of that incredibly creepy gas station.
June 11-16 – Summer Harvest Week at Motor Supply Co. Bistro. Farm-to-table dishes will be highlighted each evening, with Meet the Farmer Happy Hour June 11 from 5:30-7 p.m.
June 22-23 – Fulfilling the Four Desires workshop at Sun Spirit Yoga Wellness in West Columbia will guide you to discover your life’s purpose and cultivate actions and attitudes that lead to fulfillment. Cost is $135 for the weekend if you sign up on or before June 8. Price increases to $150 on June 9. This isn’t necessarily food related but everyone should know their reason for being.
June 26- Pressure and Boiling Water Bath Canning workshop at 10 a.m. at the Clemson Extension Service in Orangeburg, SC, presented by Carolina Canning. Don’t let the art of canning go out of style.
