Westbrook Brewery Night at World of Beer

by April on February 8, 2012

I’ve spoken before of my love of the Twitter, and it again rings true. I would have forgotten about Westbrook Brewery night at World of Beer had it not been for a tweet from @summeroutside! I quickly abandoned all my other plans for the night and hit up WOB for some delicious South Carolina beer.

Westbrook Brewery is located in Mount Pleasant, SC, and they are fairly new having only opened up in 2010, but they already have beers that I was a fan of. Kellie and I started at the bar, getting many, many Westbrook samples from the other bearded guy, Calvin before committing to a beer for the night. I sampled the Vanilla Tree Dubbel (delicious!), Mexican Cake (too stouty for my tastes), IPA from a cask (favorable, but not carbonated which detracted from the appeal a bit), Saison-Ale (also delicious), and a very sour lemony flavored one that I apparently didn’t even care to remember the name of.

I started out with a Vanilla Tree Dubbel, which pleased me since I rarely go for a beer even approaching a caramel color, which this beer was a hair darker than. It has pleasant vanilla and woody notes, which don’t get less appealing as the beer gets less cold. In fact, I liked this dubbel so much that I ended up ordering a second pint to finish off the night at WOB, but not before having a full pint of Saison-Ale.

The Saison is meant to be a hot weather beer that is light and clean, but it was equally enjoyable last night in February in between my dubbels. Just a note, don’t eat it with anything sweet (like candy cigarette…), otherwise the taste will get strange and no longer be as delicious as it was. After probably two pints worth of samples, then three more beers, I was socially lubricated enough to engage in face to face interaction.

What is wrong with me? I can’t seem to look straight at the camera when I know a flash is coming!

So back to the moral of the story, which I forgot because I had F.U.N. last night. The new moral of the story is, bars with purse hooks are the BEST.

And the other moral is that Westbrook beers are delicious, and you should also follow me on the Twitters, because one day we may provide valuable information to each other!

You are AWESOME! And I completely forgot about that photo until now. At first I was like…”when did that happen?!” But then, I remembered.

I love Westbrook Brewing so hard. SO HARD. Saison Ale and I are getting married, didn’t you hear?

That sounds like an awesome wedding. Hope your dress doesn’t get wet?
