Just Call Me Mimi

Proof I am turning into my grandmother…

…Storing leftover chopped onions in a Talenti sorbetto container.

You should see my freezer, which is jam packed with quarts of Stoneyfield yogurt containers that actually contains my ice cream maker experiments! Recipes and pictures of that to come, because the Internet is severely lacking in sweet tea ice cream recipes, so I made my own!

I think to think that the re-using plastic containers meant that my Mimi was way ahead of the times when it came to being green, even though she did it because it saved money. We also learned really quickly as kids to open the box our presents came in, because it was rarely what was pictured on the outside!

Do you use yogurt, ice cream, or butter containers as cheapo tupperware at your house, or do you spring for the non labeled stuff?

OMG that was my grandmother! Best story ever is that my grandparents used to hibernate in Florida for the winter, and my mom went over to their apartment to check on things. She opened the freezer and saw a container of cream cheese, and she had needed some for a recipe, so she figured she’d take it. When she went to take it out of the freezer, the container rattled. Since cream cheese shouldn’t rattle, she opened it… and there were blueberries inside. :)

LOL great story! Those grandparents and the ways the teach the life lesson, “Things are not always what they seem” are priceless!
