Bestowed upon me on my day of birth was the distinctive honor of having what could be the earliest day on which Mother’s Day could fall, May 8th. Mother’s Day is always the second Sunday of a year. This means that every five or six or seven- whatever I’m not counting- years, I have to share my special princess day. This year however, my own mom will be out of town for Mother’s Day, so we celebrated that and my birthday last weekend. This leaves me completely free to indulge myself in Me Day, all day long. That would be totally selfish though, there are plenty of other things happening on the 8th, and I would like to share them with everyone.

May 8th is No Socks Day. Why? Why the hell not? It’s warm outside, it keeps you from having to less laundry (because socks take up precious washing machine real estate), and promotes airing out stank feet. Step up the celebration and get a pedicure, like I will be doing.

It’s also National Coconut Cream Pie Day. I think I’ll pass on celebrating this one, being that I am already planning a day of food anyways. Husband is taking me to brunch on State Street, and I am debating where I want to go eat with my dad that evening that won’t be crammed with mothers. I’m thinking a bar will be the best choice to eliminate the possibility of mothers with children being present diminished. Not eliminated, but merely diminished.

And then you have my 26th birthday, or as I like to call it “The 5th anniversary of my 21st.”

I’ll be back when I’m 26!
